Don’t do cold calls, cold tweet

Through the powers of Twitter, and using the term “Coming to Cornwall” in the search box in 2013, I came across a gentleman that my family and I had seen on TV because we are huge fans of Australian Masterchef. Kumar Pereira and I got into a discussion over Twitter and then emails were sent. To cut the long story short, in five days my family and I got in touch with his publishers, had his recipe books delivered to us, picked Kumar, his wife and mother-in-law up and held a cooking demonstration and dining event for 14 people at the wonderful Philleigh Way Cookery School on the Roseland – having sold tickets for £20 per head. Shane Soloman of the Cornwall Channel come and film it, after which he put it up on his Cornwall TV channel.

It was a pinch yourself moment. It was fantastic. It just goes to show that if you use Twitter well lots of opportunities can happen for you.
